Bass-baritone Sven Weyens started playing the cello at the age of ten, with Frieda Celis. He then studied with Jaap Kruithof, Hans Mannes, France Springuel, Jeroen Reuling and Marcio Carneiro. He took masterclasses from Francois Guy, Wolgang Laufer, Valentin Erben and Thomas Kakuschka (Alban Berg quartet). He has been a member of The Hague Philharmonic (Residentie Orkest) since 2004. In addition, Sven specialised in chamber music. He has performed with, among others, the Josef Aschtak Trio, with whom he toured in Portugal and the U.S. Already as a child, Sven Weyens had developed a great passion for classical singing as well.
