English The mezzosoprano Svanhildur Pálmadóttir, was born in Reykjavik, Iceland. She studied Voice at the Conservatoir Jacopo Tomadini in Udine, Italy where she received her Master of Arts. During her studies she took private lessons with i.e. Kristján Jóhannsson, Richard Trimborn, Vito Maria Brunetti and Felicia Weathers. On the opera stage Svanhildur has appeared in roles like Dardano in Händel‘s Amadigi di Gaula, the leading role in Mascagni‘s Zanetto and the roles Suor Zelatrice and La Zia Principessa in Puccini‘s Suor Angelica. Other roles like Isabella in Rossini‘s L‘Italiana in Algeri and the leading role in Bizet‘s Carmen she sang in concert versions. In the genre of musical she has performed the roles of Mary and the Astrologist in Webber‘s Sunset Boulevard and Schwester Celin
