Sonja Grätzel (Freitag)

Born in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, she studied singing in Detmold and Freiburg with Prof. Dorothea Wirtz. Sonja Freitag finished her studies with the diplomas as a singing teacher, as a song and oratorio singer and as an opera singer. Numerous master classes followed. Since 2007 Sonja Freitag has played numerous roles at the Lübeck Theater . In Richard Wagner's "Ring of the Nibelung" she sang Woglinde in Rheingold and Götterdämmerung and Gerhilde in "Walküre". This production was released on DVD and was awarded the Echo Klassik Prize 2012. In August 2010 Sonja Freitag was awarded the Young Talent Promotion Award in memory of Jutta Schlegel; in 2012 she was a fellow of the Wagner Association in Würzburg.
