Sanele Mwelase

South African Countertenor Sanele Mwelase trained in opera singing at the University of Cape Town. While still a student, he played Ruggiero( Alcina, G.F Händel), the tittle role of Tamerlano(Händel) as well as Nerone ( L’incoronazione di Poppea, Monteverdi) in production at his University. Sanele has been a winner of several competitions, including the International Singing Competition Neue Stimmen 2022 and the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition in 2023. He recently made his first international debut at Theatre Royal De La Monnaie in the role of Ali.
