The Orquesta Joven de Andalucía (OJA) returns to the stage of the Teatro de la Maestranza, where the previous season had a resounding success with the demanding Seventh Symphony by Anton Bruckner, to face another of those programs that test the maturity and solvency of any symphonic ensemble.

Directed by Álvaro Albiach (Valencia, 1968), a maestro with extensive international experience and an important presence in the field of opera -Teatro Real, Liceu, Rossini Festival in Pesaro...), the OJA tackles The Song of the Earth by Gustav Mahler , cycle of songs in the form of a symphony composed in 1907 but premiered, posthumously, in 1911, whose sixth and last section, "Der abschied", (The farewell), constitutes one of the most heartbreaking, melancholic and lacerating pieces in history of the music.

In addition, Albiach and the OJA premiere a work for solo saxophone by Daahoud Salim, a young and brilliant jazz pianist and composer trained in Seville, son of the great saxophonist Abdu Salim.

La Orquesta Joven de Andalucía (OJA) vuelve al escenario del Teatro de la Maestranza, donde la temporada anterior obtuvo un éxito clamoroso con la exigente Séptima Sinfonía de Anton Bruckner, para enfrentarse a otro de esos programas que ponen a prueba la madurez y solvencia de cualquier conjunto sinfónico.

Dirigida por Álvaro Albiach (Valencia, 1968), un maestro de gran experiencia internacional con importante presencia en el campo de la ópera -Teatro Real, Liceu, Festival Rossini de Pésaro…), la OJA aborda La canción de la tierra de Gustav Mahler, ciclo de canciones con forma de sinfonía compuesto en 1907 pero estrenado, con carácter póstumo, en 1911, cuya sexta y última sección, “Der abschied”, (La despedida), constituye una de las piezas más desgarradoras, melancólicas y lacerantes de la historia de la música.

Además, Albiach y la OJA estrenan una obra para saxofón solista de Daahoud Salim, un joven y brillante pianista y compositor de jazz formado en Sevilla, hijo del gran saxofonista Abdu Salim.
