Le 08.02., le Grand Auditorium se met à l’heure monastique ou presque. À la nuit tombée, le public pourra ainsi y entendre les majestueuses Vêpres solennelles d’un confesseur de Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart par l’un des grands prêtres de la direction, William Christie, artiste en résidence cette saison. À la tête de l’Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg, le chef en appellera ensuite au temps liturgique de la Semaine Sainte, avec la rare version oratorio des spirituelles Sept dernières paroles du Christ en Croix de Joseph Haydn. De quoi adopter sans attendre le fuseau horaire de la Philharmonie…

Draußen mag zwar der Karneval toben, aber in der Philharmonie wird bereits jene andächtige Stimmung etabliert, welche die in der Folgewoche beginnende Passionszeit prägen wird. Am 08.02. dirigiert William Christie, einer der Hohepriester seiner Zunft und in dieser Saison Artist in residence, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozarts majestätische Vesperae solennes de confessore. Anschließend wird Christie mit dem Luxembourg Philharmonic die selten gehörte Oratorienversion von Haydns Sieben letzten Worten Christi am Kreuz musizieren und damit auf die Karwoche, den Zielpunkt der Passionszeit, vorausweisen.

Outside, Carnival may have been unleashed, but at the Philharmonie, the devotional atmosphere of Passiontide, which begins the following week, gets a preview. On 08.02., William Christie, one of the high priests of his profession and Artist in residence this season, conducts Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s majestic Vesperae solennes de confessore. After-wards, Christie leads the Luxembourg Philharmonic in the rarely-heard oratorio version of Joseph Haydn’s Seven Last Words of Christ on the Cross, anticipating Holy Week, the high point of Passiontide.
