"Jauchzet Gott" is the cry from the opening solo cantata by Johann Sebastian Bach, whose interpretation Yeree Suh, who is in demand internationally, especially for baroque repertoire, takes on. The South Korean soprano shines from all sides in the virtuoso solo motet Exsultate, jubilate by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart with the famous Alleluia at the end. But not only there, there is also an "aha" moment in Bach's 3rd orchestral suite: namely when the first notes of the world-famous Air sound after the overture. Johannes Brahms' so-called Haydn Variations form the crowning glory of this festive Christmas programme, for which the Argentinian conductor Rubén Dubrovsky, who was responsible for the music of Handel's opera "Giulio Cesare in Egitto" here at the theatre, returns to the St.Gallen Symphony Orchestra. Eine Woche vor Weihnachten erstrahlt die Tonhalle dank Bach, Mozart und Brahms in musikalischem Lichterglanz. «Jauchzet Gott» ruft es aus der eröffnenden Solokantate von Johann Sebastian Bach, deren Interpretation Yeree Suh, international gefragt insbesondere für barockes Repertoire, übernimmt. Von allen Seiten glänzen kann die südkoreanische Sopranistin auch in der virtuosen Solomotette Exsultate, jubilate von Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart mit dem berühmten Schluss-Alleluja. Aber nicht nur da, auch in Bachs 3. Orchestersuite gibt es einen «Aha»-Moment: dann nämlich, wenn nach der Ouvertüre die ersten Töne der weltbekannten Air erklingen. Johannes Brahms’ sogenannte Haydn-Variationen bilden den krönenden Abschluss dieses feierlichen Weihnachtsprogramms, für dessen Leitung der argentinische Dirigent Rubén Dubrovsky, der hier am Theater die Händel-Oper Giulio Cesare in Egitto musikalisch verantwortete, zum Sinfonierochester St.Gallen zurückkehrt.
