Poème De L'amour: Concert Various

French music, from Berlioz to Suzanne Giraud, for the French Youth Orchestra led by its new musical director Michael Schønwandt.

Created to meet the need for very high-level training in the profession of orchestral musician, the Orchester Français des Jeunes brings together instrumentalists aged 16 to 25 who are driven by both high standards and enthusiasm. For their winter concert at the Philharmonie, they devote themselves to an all-French program. At the opening of Berlioz's Roman Carnival responds Chausson's Poème de l'amour et de la mer , a great melody-cantata to which the generous Adèle Charvet, recently nominated for a Victoires de la Musique in the "Revelation" category, lends her voice. The suites extracted by Ravel from his ballet Daphnis et Chloéare counterpointed by two almost contemporary works written by Lili Boulanger shortly before her tragic death at the age of 24, and a new work by Suzanne Giraud, who was recently composer in residence at the Festival Présence Compositrices, completes this rich program.
