Parsifal - that is the creation with which Richard Wagner said goodbye to the world as an artist. When he took on this work, he was at a turning point in his life: in 1876 he was able to open the Festspielhaus in Bayreuth, a theater that was only to be dedicated to the performances of his works. He had now finally established himself as a permanent fixture in German cultural life, albeit still heavily controversial as a person and artist. And you can see that in his last opera. Because here Wagner no longer had to take any considerations and as an artist was completely at home. And so this stage consecration festival is the “most real” Wagner: authentic, expansive, magical, gripping, demanding and encouraging knowledge.

This stage dedication festival will be staged around the gates of Parsifal, who works out the virtue of compassion and can thus redeem the suffering knights who guard the Holy Grail, the Linz theater director Stephan Suschke.
