“Ravenna Musica 2019”: Wednesday 13 March Coro Maghini Petite Messe Solennelle by Gioachino Rossini
Wednesday 13 March (9 pm) the stage of the Alighieri Theater will welcome the forty members of the prestigious Coro Maghini , guided by the skilled baton of their permanent director, maestro Claudio Chiavazza . 
 
The Maghini Choir, named after one of the most significant figures in Turin's musical life, Ruggero Maghini, director of the Rai Choir since 1950 for over twenty years, was formed in 1995 on the occasion of a production by the RAI National Symphony Orchestra. Since then he has been recruited several times by the same orchestra for important productions.
 
Since its foundation it has been led by maestro Claudio Chiavazza, graduated in Clarinet, Choral Music and Choir Conducting. The breadth of the repertoire, from Gregorian chant to contemporary vocal music, the many collaborations with the most important conductors and ensembles of the international music scene, the multi-year and multiform activity, make Claudio Chiavazza one of the most representative figures of the Italian choral reality.
 
The program is one of the most evocative of the sacred repertoire: Gioachino Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle , in the original version for solos, choir, two pianos and harmonium.
The solo voices will be those of the soprano Karin Selva, the mezzo-soprano Maria Russo, the tenor Michele Concato and the bass Corrado Carmelo Caruso.
Sergio Merletto and Andrea Turchetto will be engaged on the two pianos and Luca Benedicti on the harmonium. 
 
The evening is part of the Ravenna Musica season , curated by the Mariani Association in collaboration with the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Ravenna, and is part of the celebrations given by Mariani to the Pesaro composer on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of his death, which, last year with the Stabat Mater it will be completed next year with the Mass of Glory.

Mercoledì 13 marzo (ore 21) il palcoscenico del Teatro Alighieri accoglierà i quaranta componenti del prestigioso Coro Maghini, guidati dalla sapiente bacchetta del loro direttore stabile, il maestro Claudio Chiavazza. 
 
Il Coro Maghini, intitolato a una delle figure più significative della vita musicale di Torino, Ruggero Maghini direttore del Coro Rai dal 1950 per oltre vent’anni, si è costituito nel 1995 in occasione di una produzione dell’Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI. Da allora è stato più volte scritturato dalla stessa orchestra per importanti produzioni.
 
Fin dalla sua fondazione è guidato dal maestro Claudio Chiavazza, diplomato in Clarinetto, Musica Corale e Direzione di coro.  L’ampiezza del repertorio, dal Canto Gregoriano alla musica vocale contemporanea, le molte collaborazioni con i più importanti direttori e ensemble del panorama musicale internazionale, la pluriennale e multiforme attività, fanno di Claudio Chiavazza una della figure più rappresentative della realtà corale italiana.
 
Il programma è tra i più suggestivi del repertorio sacro: la Petite Messe Solennelle di Gioachino Rossini, nella versione originale per soli, coro, due pianoforti e armonium.
Le voci soliste saranno quelle del soprano Karin Selva, del mezzosoprano Maria Russo, del tenore Michele Concato e del basso Corrado Carmelo Caruso.
Sergio Merletto e Andrea Turchetto saranno impegnati ai due pianoforti e Luca Benedicti all’armonium. 
 
La serata fa parte della stagione Ravenna Musica, curata dall’Associazione Mariani in collaborazione con l’Assessorato alla Cultura del Comune di Ravenna, e rientra nelle celebrazioni tributate dalla Mariani al compositore pesarese in occasione dei 150 anni della sua morte, che, iniziate lo scorso anno con lo Stabat Mater si completerà l’anno prossimo con la Messa di  Gloria.
