Tratta da The bride of Lammermoor di Walter Scott, la più celebre opera di Gaetano Donizetti (1835) è una delle più rappresentate nella storia dell'Ente Concerti "De Carolis" di Sassari. Al suo debutto, trionfale, al teatro San Carlo di Napoli, il soggetto curiosamente contava già cinque trasposizioni in melodramma, ma senza discussioni l'opera di Donizetti resta, da sempre, la più eseguita. In quest'edizione, che si presentava senza 'tagli' alla partitura, torna Francesco Demuro nel ruolo di Edgardo mentre esordisce un'altra cantante sarda, il soprano Elisabetta Farris, vincitrice del concorso per giovani sardi bandito dall'Ente Concerti

Taken from The bride of Lammermoor by Walter Scott, the most famous work by Gaetano Donizetti (1835) is one of the most represented in the history of the Concerti "De Carolis" of Sassari. At its triumphal debut at the San Carlo theater in Naples, the subject curiously already had five transpositions in melodrama, but without question, Donizetti's work has always remained the most performed.
