“ Lilith, Luna Negra ” is a small-format opera, commissioned by Diego Martínez, director of the “Ciudad de Úbeda” International Music and Dance Festival and premiered in its 2019 edition with great public and critical acclaim. It is the first opera in the artistic category made up by the Madrid composer David del Puerto and the Argentine librettist Mónica Maffía and the third by both.

The three characters – Lilith, Eve and Adam, embodied in mezzosoprano, soprano and baritone – are joined by 6 instruments (flute, alto sax, bass clarinet, violin, cello and guitar) that are both orchestra and double voices, sound curtain and speechless actors of the drama. The music is built on a small set of themes that live and transform with the characters.

In March 2021, a new version produced by the Fundación Juan March premieres in its auditorium, always under the musical direction of Alexis Soriano and the stage direction of Mónica Maffía, and the “Ensemble Lilith” is formally formed. Said staging has been adapted to be enjoyed at the Littleopera de Zamora International Festival.

The plot presents Lilith as the first female scientist: she asks herself philosophical questions, discusses her right to name things and manages to decode God's, to the perplexity of Adam, who is more prone to talk about feelings and use poetic language. The gray areas of the Bible allow you to play with a possible meeting between Eva and Lilith where she transmits her knowledge to him.

“Lilith, Luna Negra” es una ópera de pequeño formato, compuesta por encargo de Diego Martínez director del Festival Internacional de Música  y Danza “Ciudad de Úbeda” y estrenada en su edición 2019 con gran éxito de público y crítica.  Es la primera ópera del rubro artístico que conforman el compositor madrileño David del Puerto y la libretista argentina Mónica Maffía y la tercera de uno y otro.

A los tres personajes – Lilith, Eva y Adán, encarnados en mezzosoprano, soprano y barítono – se unen 6 instrumentos (flauta, saxo alto, clarinete bajo, violín, cello y guitarra) que son a la vez orquesta y doble de las voces, telón sonoro y actores sin palabras del drama. La música se construye sobre un pequeño conjunto de temas que viven y se transforman con los personajes.

En marzo de 2021 se estrena una nueva versión producida por la Fundación Juan March en su auditorio, siempre bajo dirección musical de Alexis Soriano y dirección escénica de Mónica Maffía, y queda conformado formalmente el “Ensemble Lilith”.  Dicha puesta en escena ha sido adaptada para poder disfrutarla en el Festival Internacional Littleopera de Zamora.

El argumento presenta a Lilith como la primera mujer científica: se hace preguntas filosóficas, discute su derecho a dar nombre a las cosas y logra decodificar el de Dios, para perplejidad de Adán, más propenso a hablar de sentimientos y  manejarse con lenguaje poético.  Las zonas grises de la Biblia permiten jugar con un posible encuentro entre Eva y Lilith donde ésta le transmite sus saberes.
