Since the very beginning of her career, the Cello Concerto No. 1 by Camille Saint-Saëns has had a special place in the heart of the flamboyant cellist Sol Gabetta. Now too, her concerts still attest to a lifelong affinity with this beautiful piece, in which she cherishes youthful memories, whilst at the same time always adding fresh nuances and depth. Saint-Saëns’ Cello Concerto No. 1 thus remains not only a milestone in her career, but also a living and evolving masterpiece that transcends time. She shares a stage with the French orchestra Les Siècles from François-Xavier Roth. This star conductor and Saint-Saëns fanatic is a welcome guest at DE SINGEL. He rounds off the evening with the dancing skeletons from the Danse Macabre. Before that, Roth and his orchestral musicians tantalise you with a colourful performance of the ballet Daphnis et Chloé. Maurice Ravel imbued this Ancient Greek love story with rhythm, atmosphere and colour. Foundlings, pirates and the god Pan play the starring roles.

Sinds het prille begin van haar carrière heeft het Eerste Celloconcerto van Camille Saint-Saëns een speciale plaats in het hart van de flamboyante celliste Sol Gabetta. Ook nu nog getuigen haar concerten van een levenslange affiniteit met dit prachtige stuk, waaraan ze jeugdige herinneringen koestert en tegelijkertijd steeds nieuwe nuances en diepgang toevoegt. Het Eerste Celloconcerto van Saint-Saëns blijft zo niet alleen een mijlpaal in haar carrière, maar ook een levendig en evoluerend meesterwerk dat de tijd overstijgt. Ze staat op het podium met het Franse orkest Les Siècles van François-Xavier Roth. Deze sterdirigent én Saint-Saëns-fanatiekeling is een graag geziene gast in DE SINGEL. De avond afsluiten doet hij met de dansende skeletten uit de Danse Macabre. Daarvoor prikkelen Roth en zijn orkestmusici je met een kleurrijke uitvoering van het ballet Daphnis et Chloé. Maurice Ravel gaf ritme, sfeer en kleur aan dit oud-Griekse liefdesverhaal. Met in de hoofdrollen: vondelingen, piraten en de god Pan.

Il clôture la soirée en compagnie des squelettes dansants de la Danse Macabre, après une interprétation chatoyante du ballet Daphnis et Chloé. Maurice Ravel pare de rythmes, d'atmosphère et de couleurs cette histoire d'amour de la Grèce antique avec comme protagonistes des enfants trouvés, des pirates et le dieu Pan.
