The story of Monsieur Mathieu and his work with troubled boys took the hearts of more than 15 million moviegoers by storm. The
international press in Paris named "Les Choristes" the best film of 2004. This was followed by two Césars and two Oscar nominations in the categories "Best Foreign Language Film" and "Best Song
" (Vois sur ton Chemin). Now this sensitive, nostalgic music film with the Boys Choir
Lucerne, the youth choir InCanto and the City Light Symphony Orchestra sounds and shines in new splendor at the KKL Lucerne.

"Les Choristes" is an atmospheric remake of "La cage aux rossignols" ("The Nightingale Cage") from 1945. Monsieur Mathieu is an
unemployed composer who, at the end of the 1940s, takes a new job as a teacher in a boarding school for boys who are difficult to educate. The prevailing methods of
education are strict, which only reinforces the rebellious behavior of the students.

Monsieur Mathieu wants to meet this with more humanity, which irritates the boarding school management. He founded a choir and succeeded in gradually
awakening the joy of singing in the students and presenting them with a needed outlet for the pent-up emotions.

Music plays a real leading role in «Les Choristes». Bruno Coulais, who was born in Paris, composed all the songs, while director
Christophe Barratier wrote the lyrics. The choral songs, which are as lyrical as they are catchy, are excellently embedded in the symphonic music for strings, woodwinds, harp,
celesta and piano.

After three sold-out screenings in December 2023, we are delighted to
be screening this heartwarming music film once again exclusively at the KKL Luzern in June 2024. Experience "Les Choristes" on the big screen in the concert hall, while the Boys Choir Lucerne, the youth choir InCanto and the City Light Symphony
Orchestra under the direction of Anthony Gabriele perform the film music live and precisely.

Die Geschichte rund um Monsieur Mathieu und seine Arbeit mit schwer erziehbaren Jungen eroberte die Herzen von mehr als 15 Millionen Kinobesuchern im Sturm. Die
internationale Presse in Paris kürte «Les Choristes» zum besten Film des Jahres 2004. Es folgten u.a. zwei Césars und zwei Oscar-Nominationen in den Kategorien
„bester fremdsprachiger Film“ und „bester Song“ (Vois sur ton Chemin). Nun erklingt und erstrahlt dieser einfühlsame, nostalgische Musikfilm mit dem Boys Choir
Lucerne, dem Jugendchor InCanto und dem City Light Symphony Orchestra im KKL Luzern in neuer Pracht.

«Les Choristes» ist eine stimmungsvolle Neuverfilmung von «La cage aux rossignols» («Der Nachtigallenkäfig») aus dem Jahr 1945. Monsieur Mathieu ist ein
arbeitsloser Komponist, der Ende der 1940er-Jahre eine neue Stelle als Lehrer in einem Internat für schwer erziehbare Burschen annimmt. Die vorherrschenden
Erziehungsmethoden sind streng, wodurch das rebellische Verhalten der Schüler nur noch verstärkt wird.

Diesem will Monsieur Mathieu mit mehr Menschlichkeit begegnen, womit er die Internatsleitung irritiert. Er gründet einen Chor und es gelingt ihm, bei den Schülern nach
und nach die Freude am Singen zu wecken und ihnen ein benötigtes Ventil für die angestauten Emotionen zu präsentieren.

Der Musik kommt in «Les Choristes» eine eigentliche Hauptrolle zu. So komponierte der in Paris geborene Bruno Coulais sämtliche Lieder, während Regisseur
Christophe Barratier die Texte dazu schrieb. Die ebenso lyrischen wie eingängigen Chorlieder sind hervorragend in die sinfonische Musik für Streicher, Holzbläser, Harfe,
Celesta und Klavier eingebettet.

Nach drei ausverkauften Aufführungen im Dezember 2023 freut es uns, diesen herzerwärmenden Musikfilm im Juni 2024 noch einmal exklusiv im KKL Luzern
aufzuführen. Erleben Sie «Les Choristes» auf Grossleinwand im Konzertsaal, während der Boys Choir Lucerne, der Jugendchor InCanto und das City Light Symphony
Orchestra unter der Leitung von Anthony Gabriele die Filmmusik live und punktgenau aufführen.
