Komedie Nápoj lásky (Gaetano Donizetti) vypráví příběh o zázračném elixíru, který vůbec zázračný není, a přesto splní svůj úkol a baví diváky na celém světě už víc než 190 let. Na inscenaci do Státní opery vás pozvou Vera Talerko, Petr Nekoranec, Vincenzo Taormina a Pavol Kubáň.


The opera comedy  L´elisir d´amore by Gaetano Donizetti retells a story about a miracle elixir that is not miraculous at all, but still gets the job done, and has been entertaining audiences around the world for more than 190 years. Vera Talerko, Petr Nekoranec, Vincenzo Taormina and Pavol Kubáň will invite you to the production at the State Opera.

Svou čtyřicátou operu složil Gaetano Donizetti během pouhých čtrnácti dnů. Její úspěšná premiéra se odehrála roku 1832 v milánském Teatro alla Canobbiana.

Opera je v podstatě mastičkářskou historií, do níž je vložena milostná zápletka, a čerpá bohatě z tradice italského lidového zpěvu. Z prostého příběhu naivního venkovana Nemorina, který se zamiluje do bohaté statkářky Adiny a usiluje o její přízeň prostřednictvím kouzelného nápoje, jenž však není nic jiného než červené víno, vytvořil Donizetti jednu z nejjiskrnějších operních komedií. Hýří skvělými gagy i něžnými melodiemi a je obdivuhodné, jak skladatel dokáže v několika taktech nastínit situaci i vystihnout lidské charaktery: mazaného podvodníka Dulcamaru, který má ve svém sortimentu nejen lék pro omlazení, ale i zázračný lektvar lásky, chvástavého seržanta Belcora, sebevědomou krásnou Adinu i nesmělého Nemorina.

Mimochodem, v roli Nemorina přivítala Praha v Novém německém divadle (dnes Státní opera) v květnu 1904 nejslavnějšího tenoristu všech dob, Enrica Carusa.

Novou inscenaci nastudovala ve Státní opeře německá režisérka Julia Burbach, nominovaná na titul „Best Newcomer“ v prestižní anketě International Opera Awards 2019.

Gaetano Donizetti completed his 40th opera within a mere fortnight. The piece premiered to great acclaim in 1832 at the Teatro alla Canobbiana in Milan.

Essentially depicting a story of quackery seasoned with a love plot, the music draws considerably upon the Italian folk song tradition. Telling the simple tale of Nemorino, a naïve peasant who falls in love with Adina, a wealthy landowner, and strives to win her heart by means of a miraculous potion (in fact just cheap red wine), Donizetti created one of the most sparkling comic operas of all, one abounding in splendid gags and tender melodies. What is more, within a few bars the composer managed to perfectly outline situations and aptly render human characters: the cunning itinerant swindler Dulcamara, who sells such cure-alls as a rejuvenation remedy and love concoction; the bragging sergeant Belcore; the self-confident belle Adina; and the diffident Nemorino.

Noteworthy is the fact that in May 1904 Prague welcomed Enrico Caruso, the most celebrated tenor of all time, who dazzled as Nemorino at the Neues deutsches Theater (today State Opera).

Our new production has been undertaken by the German stage director Julia Burbach, nominated in 2019 for the “Best Newcomer” prize in the prestigious International Opera  Awards poll.
