A hymn to love and peace, The Magic Flute is without doubt the most popular and universal work in the history of opera. At the end of his all-too-short life, Mozart's music continues to touch audiences of all ages, 250 years after its premiere.

Will the forces of evil triumph on this poor earth? For that matter, do we always know where good lies and where evil? Is Sarastro really the villain of the story, whom the Queen of the Night seeks to bring down? In a world where human bonds seem to be cracking every day, The Magic Flute invites us to rediscover the meaning of our actions, and to put the heart back at the center of our decisions.

For his first operatic production, acclaimed filmmaker Cédric Klapisch takes up this timeless tale and, between laughter and gravity, poetry and carefreeness, leads us, like Tamino and Pamina, on the most wonderful of initiatory journeys.

Hymne à l’amour et à la paix, La Flûte enchantée est sans aucun doute l’ouvrage le plus populaire et universel de l’histoire de l’opéra. Mozart, à la fin de sa trop courte vie, y déploie une musique qui, 250 ans après sa création, continue de toucher petits et grands. 

Les forces du mal triompheront-elles sur cette pauvre terre ? D’ailleurs, sait- on toujours bien où se situe le bien et où se situe le mal ? Sarastro est-il bien le méchant de l’histoire, que la Reine de la Nuit cherche à abattre ? Dans un monde où les liens humains semblent se fissurer chaque jour davantage, La Flûte enchantée nous invite à retrouver le sens de nos actes, et à remettre le cœur au centre de nos décisions. 

Pour sa première mise en scène lyrique, le célèbre cinéaste Cédric Klapisch s’empare de ce conte intemporel et, entre rire et gravité, entre poésie et insouciance, nous conduit, tels Tamino et Pamina, à travers le plus merveilleux des voyages initiatiques.
