Works by Robert Schumann, Franz Schubert, Franz Lachner and Louis Spohr

Johannes Brahms was the first to venerate the youngest member of the woodwind section as “Miss Clarinet”, for whom he wrote wonderful chamber music late in life. But Franz Schubert, Franz Lachner and Louis Spohr had already been listening to the female side of the clarinet and writing intimate duets for her and soprano, to which only the piano with the harmony, which was obligatory in the bourgeois salon, was allowed to join. Our Artist in Residence Fatma Said, the famous clarinet soloist Sabine Meyer and pianist Malcolm Martineau bring the intimate house music mood of the Schubertiades to the Recital Hall with these works from the early Romantic and Romantic eras – supported by wonderful melodies.

Als „Fräulein Klarinette“ verehrte zwar erst Johannes Brahms das jüngste Mitglied im Holzbläsersatz, für das er spät im Leben herrliche Kammermusik schrieb. Doch bereits zuvor haben Franz Schubert, Franz Lachner und Louis Spohr der Klarinette weibliche Seiten abgelauscht und für sie und Sopran innige Duette geschrieben, zu denen nur das im bürgerlichen Salon obligatorische Klavier mit der Harmonie treten durfte. Unsere Artist in Residence Fatma Said, die berühmte Klarinettensolistin Sabine Meyer und Pianist Malcolm Martineau bringen mit diesen Werken der Frühromantik und Romantik die intime Hausmusik-Stimmung der Schubertiaden in den Kleinen Saal – getragen von wunderbaren Melodien.
