"In the white horse on the Wolfgangsee ... ", illustrious guests from near and far are romping about there these days in search of ... Yes, what actually? An authentically idyllic spot in Austria? Love? righteousness? Or is it the Beuschel that attracts? What is certain, however, is that Rössl landlady Josepha Vogelhuber knows exactly what her guests need. Be it chives or escapism. When fashion entrepreneur Giesecke, originally from Berlin and reluctantly put into a holiday mood by his daughter Ottilie, arrives at the »Rössl« and meets his competitor's lawyer there, trouble is inevitable. The staff is also crackling: Waiter Leopold has fallen in love with his boss Josepha, who, however, only cares for her regular guest Dr. Otto Siedler - the same lawyer - can inspire.

 

In front of an idyllic mountain panorama and under the influence of culinary delights, the trials and tribulations take their course and unexpected alliances are suddenly formed - because who should remain unaffected when it says: "The whole world is sky blue"? No eye stays dry, no heart is untouched, but no argument is left out either. Thank God there is always the music, which can soothe all problems and worries. Every piece is a hit, catchy tunes are guaranteed. And if it's not going to the Salzkammergut this year, the Salzkammergut is coming to us. With all his charm, his biting humor, his longing and his hope that everything will be fine in the end.

 

With his »Rössl« production, director Michael Schachermaier became a repeat offender at the Saarländisches Staatstheater. With his colourful, poetic and humorous imagery, the Austrian has already delighted Saarland audiences with »The Little Mermaid« and »Amadeus«. Now his wink is coming back to the stage of the Saarland State Theater with the most popular operetta par excellence. With a music theater ensemble in the best of moods, it's back to Lake Wolfgang and the supposed postcard idyll. Yes, »In the Salzkammergut, there can be a lot of fun!« - and what more do you need these days?
