The legend of Doctor Faust dates back to the Middle Ages and was transferred to literature by various writers and to music by many composers. Just think of Berlioz's symphonic poem or Boito's opera Mephistopheles . The most famous literary Faust is Goethe's Faust . He completed his Faust fifty years before the premiere of Gounod's work. And it was this plot that the librettists used to write a story for the composer.

All small and great, whether ordinary people or sorcerers, who made any pacts with the devil, tried to ease their fate in order to gain earthly successes, and the devil ... was willing to give them what they wanted. This is also the problem of Faust. So Gounod's Faust is not a man who strives to understand the world. When asked by Mephisto what he strives for, he lists the pleasures of love. For the composer and his librettists, the figure of Małgorzata and her story, a seduced and abandoned woman, are more important, which is why she is an equally important heroine and is the one who experiences the greatest tragedy. In Germany, it even happened that Gounod's opera Margarethe was staged. Will Faust's remorse and repentance be enough to save and save Małgorzata?

This wonderful composition full of operatic hits will be remembered for a long time, we will perform it with the participation of our full-time artists and invited guest artists.

Legenda o doktorze Fauście sięga czasów średniowiecza i została przeniesiona do literatury przez różnych pisarzy oraz do muzyki przez wielu kompozytorów. Wystarczy pomyśleć  o poemacie symfonicznym Berlioza czy operze Mefistofeles Boito. Najbardziej znanym literackim Faustem jest Faust Goethego. Ukończył on swojego Fausta pięćdziesiąt lat przed premierą dzieła Gounoda. I to właśnie ta fabuła posłużyła librecistom do napisania historii dla kompozytora.

Wszyscy mali i wielcy czy to zwykli ludzie, czy czarnoksiężnicy, którzy zawarli jakiekolwiek pakty z diabłem, próbowali ulżyć swojemu losowi, aby zdobyć ziemskie sukcesy, a diabeł… był skłonny ofiarować im to, czego pragnęli. To również problem Fausta. Faust Gounoda nie jest, więc człowiekiem, który dąży do zrozumienia świata. Na pytanie Mefista, do czego dąży, wymienia rozkosze miłości. Dla kompozytora i jego librecistów to postać Małgorzaty i jej historia, uwiedzionej i opuszczonej kobiety, jest ważniejsza, dlatego to ona jest równie ważną bohaterką i to ona przeżywa największą tragedię. W Niemczech zdarzało się nawet,  że wystawiano operę Gounoda pod tytułem Margarethe. Czy wyrzuty sumienia i opamiętanie Fausta wystarczą by uratować i zbawić Małgorzatę?

Ta wspaniała kompozycja pełna operowych przebojów zapada w pamięć na długo, będziemy ją realizować z udziałem naszych etatowych artystów oraz zaproszonych artystów gościnnych.
