Henry Purcell's "Dido and Aeneas" is an opera about power, passion and loneliness. Here is a woman-ruler on her way meeting a warrior and a hero. Earlier life made her stay alone, but the power of feeling begins to take over. Dido is unable to control her growing passion for Aeneas, despite her fear and uncertainty, she succumbs to it. However, she is not safe: she has opponents at court who are plotting against her, wanting to damage her position, wanting to destroy her. Dido decides to act: she sends Aeneas away, condemns herself to loneliness ...            

The staging of "Dido and Aeneas" puts Dido's emotions at the center - her strength, faithfulness to herself, purity of intentions. And the feelings and actions of Aeneas - a man convinced of his own historical role, exceeding someone's personal fate. The universality of history is emphasized by the location of this 17th-century musical masterpiece in the second half of the 20th century.

„Dydona i Eneasz” Henry Purcella to opera o władzy, porywie namiętności i samotności. Oto kobieta-władczyni spotyka na swojej drodze wojownika i bohatera. Wcześniejsze życie skłaniało ją do trwania w samotności, jednak siła uczucia zaczyna brać górę. Dydona nie jest w stanie opanować rosnącej namiętności do Eneasza, ulega jej pomimo lęku i niepewności. Nie jest jednak bezpieczna: na dworze ma bowiem przeciwniczki, które knują przeciwko niej, chcą zaszkodzić jej pozycji, chcą ją zniszczyć. Dydona postanawia działać: odsyła Eneasza, skazuje się na samotność…            

Inscenizacja „Dydony i Eneasza” w centrum stawia emocje Dydony – jej siłę, wierność sobie, czystość intencji. Oraz uczucia i działania Eneasza – mężczyzny przeświadczonego o własnej dziejowej roli, przekraczającej czyjś osobisty los. Uniwersalność historii podkreśla umiejscowienie tego XVII-wiecznego muzycznego arcydzieła w drugiej połowie XX wieku.
