80 years are history, mission, tradition and responsibility. 2021 marks the return of projects that were part of the genesis of the Coliseum, and opera is one of the main bets. On September 4, the season opens with “Così fan tutte” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

 

The third and final opera in the successful trilogy of Mozart's collaborations with the Venetian librettist Lorenzo da Ponte, after “The Marriage of Figaro”, from 1786, and “Don Giovanni”, from 1787, the plot of “Così fan tutte” ( 1789) revolves around two young couples inexperienced on the limits between fantasy and reality: Guglielmo and Ferrando, who, manipulated by the cynical D. Alfonso, are led to bet on the fidelity of their respective girlfriends, Fiordiligi and Dorabella.

 

With Lorenzo da Ponte, Mozart created three masterpieces on the musical and theatrical level, closing with this controversial work in two acts, revolutionary for the time, which took a different look at the relations between men and women but, above all, at the condition human. Despite the title Così fan tutte, ossia La scuola degli amanti… (“So are they, that is, The school of lovers…”), the story also takes a critical look at the behavior of the male characters, seducing the audience with witty jokes. , fun ironies and novelistic twists that translate into hard lessons about the depths of love.

 

“Così fan tutte” will be presented at Coliseu Porto Ageas with artistic bodies and national soloists of great talent, in a co-production with the Polytechnic of Porto.

80 anos são história, missão, tradição e responsabilidade. 2021 assinala o regresso de projetos que fazem parte da génese do Coliseu, e a ópera é uma das principais apostas. A 4 de setembro, a temporada abre com “Così fan tutte”, de Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

 

A terceira e última ópera da trilogia de sucesso das colaborações de Mozart com o libretista veneziano Lorenzo da Ponte, após “As bodas de Fígaro”, de 1786, e “Don Giovanni”, de 1787, a trama de “Così fan tutte” (1789) desenrola-se à volta de dois jovens casais inexperientes dos limites entre a fantasia e a realidade: Guglielmo e Ferrando, que, manipulados pelo cínico D. Alfonso, são levados a apostar na fidelidade das suas respetivas namoradas, Fiordiligi e Dorabella.

 

Com Lorenzo da Ponte, Mozart criou três obras-primas no plano musical e teatral, fechando com este trabalho controverso em dois atos, revolucionário para a época, que lançou um olhar diferente sobre as relações entre homens e mulheres mas, sobretudo, sobre a condição humana. Apesar do título Così fan tutte, ossia La scuola degli amanti… (“Assim são elas, ou seja, A escola dos amantes…”), a história lança também um olhar crítico sobre a conduta dos personagens masculinos, seduzindo o público com espirituosas brincadeiras, divertidas ironias e reviravoltas novelísticas que se traduzem em duras lições sobre as profundezas do amor.

 

“Così fan tutte” vai ser apresentada no Coliseu Porto Ageas com corpos artísticos e solistas nacionais de grande talento, numa coprodução com o Politécnico do Porto.
