The Vienna Musikverein presents its 21/22 season

One of the best-known rooms dedicated to classical music in the world, especially for the traditional New Year's Concert, has announced its plans for the 2021-2022 season. Among its extensive program, it will dedicate a series of cycles-portrait to a series of artists such as the pianist András Schiff, the conductors Joana Mallwitz and Mirga Grazinyte-Tyla, the baritone Christian Gerhaher and the Berlin Philharmonic. In addition, looking for the encounter with other arts, it will dedicate an extensive cycle to the Austrian filmmaker Michael Haneke, as well as the German painter Georg Baselitz, programming scores associated with the work of both. On the other hand, the pianist Leif Ove Andsnes will delve into the Mozart of the years 1785/1786, coinciding with the records of the same theme that he is launching on the market; Daniel Barenboim will conduct symphonies by Schumann and Brahms, Semyon Bychkov will offer programs steeped in Czech music and Andris Nelsons will do the same with works by Richard Strauss, all with the Vienna Philharmonic on the stands.
