He has recently finished a season as a Jerwood Young Artist at Glyndebourne Festival Opera performing the roles of The Keeper of the Madhouse in The Rakes Progress and 2eme Commissaire in Dialogues des Carmélites and covering the roles of Nick Shadow in The Rakes Progress, and Masetto in Don Giovanni. Michael has seen recent success as the winner of both Glyndebourne’s 2023 John Christie Award, and the Royal Academy of Music’s 2022 Bicentenary Prize with his winning performance described as ‘outstandingly moving’. He has also been awarded the Joan Chissell Schumann Lieder Prize, the Sir Thomas Armstrong English Song Prize, and the Blyth-Buesst Opera
