In ihren Kompositionen beschäftigt sich die norwegische Komponistin und Performerin Maja S. K. Ratkje nicht nur mit unterschiedlichen Ton- und Klang-Zugängen und -Experimenten, sondern ist oft auch selbst als Performerin Teil ihrer Projekte.

Der Abend in der Box beginnt mit Ratkjes Werk «Revelations». Diese Komposition für Streichquartett und Mezzosopran besteht aus neun Teilen und befasst sich mit den indogermanischen Ur-Wörtern – den ersten 23 Wörtern, die bis zum heutigen Tage als Ur-Quelle der Sprache rekonstruiert werden konnten. Was tragen diese Ur-Wörter für eine Semantik in sich? Wie sehen wir diese heute und womit verbinden wir sie? Was können Wörter uns über unsere Zivilisation sagen und darüber, wer wir sind?

Ratkje stellt sich in «Revelations» den Fragen, wie Mensch und Sprache damals wie heute in Beziehung stehen und was diese
Beziehung für uns bedeutet.

Im zweiten Teil des Abends wird der Raum zwischen Sound und Sprache durch Ratkjes Werke «Breaking the News» und «ET OS» beleuchtet. Ratkje steht dabei selber als Performerin auf der Bühne. Jede Performance ist für sie ein einzigartiger Prozess, auf den sie sich immer wieder von Neuem einlässt.

Die Regisseurin Sophiemarie Won hat in der Spielzeit 20/21 mit «Schellen-Ursli» eine Produktion für junges Publikum erarbeitet, jetzt kann sie ihren Wurzeln als frühere Violinistin folgen und Kammermusik theatral sichtbar machen.

Mit Maja S. K. Ratkje begrüsst das Luzerner Theater seine nächste Komponistin in Residence, die Sie im Dezember 2022 auch in einem Komponistinnenporträt in der Box näher kennenlernen können.

In her compositions, the Norwegian composer and performer Maja SK Ratkje not only deals with different approaches and experiments to sound and sound, but is often herself a performer in her projects.

The evening in the box begins with Ratkje's work "Revelations". This composition for string quartet and mezzo-soprano consists of nine parts and deals with the Indo-European primordial words - the first 23 words that could be reconstructed as the primordial source of the language up to the present day. What kind of semantics do these primal words carry? How do we see them today and what do we associate them with? What can words tell us about our civilization and who we are?

In «Revelations» Ratkje asks how people and language are related then and now and what this
relationship means for us.

In the second part of the evening, the space between sound and language will be illuminated by Ratkje's works "Breaking the News" and "ET OS". Ratkje herself is the performer on stage. For her, every performance is a unique process that she gets involved in again and again.

In the 2020/21 season, director Sophiemarie Won created a production for young audiences with «Schellen-Ursli». Now she can follow her roots as a former violinist and make chamber music theatrically visible.

With Maja SK Ratkje, the Lucerne Theater welcomes its next composer-in-residence, whom you can get to know better in December 2022 in a portrait of the composer in the box.
