Robert Schumann, who lived and worked in Leipzig for a long time, is said to have described the term salon music as a genre for the first time in 1836. The "Musical Salon" series at the Leipzig Opera was founded especially for the musicians and artists of our house and the Gewandhaus Orchestra, who can present themselves from an unusual angle in an intimate atmosphere. The focus is on selected, individual programs, compositions that are rarely found in the current concert repertoire. Before the concert there is the opportunity to have coffee and cake.
