Vier Händel-Preisträger in einem Festkonzert? Das gab es noch nie in der 100-jährigen Geschichte der Händel-Festspiele Halle. Wolfgang Katschner (Händel-Preisträger von 2004) als musikalischer Leiter musiziert in einer glanzvollen Gala gemeinsam mit Vivica Genaux (Händel-Preisträgerin 2017) und Valer Sabadus (Händel-Preisträger 2020). Nach ihrem Debüt 1994 an der Florentine Opera/Milwaukee sang die Mezzosopranistin an den wichtigsten Häusern und bei den renommiertesten Festivals weltweit, wie beispielsweise an der Wiener Staatsoper, der Opéra de Paris, an der Bayerischen Staatsoper München, an der Metropolitan Opera in New York, in Montpellier, Straßburg und Paris sowie bei den Salzburger Pfingstfestspielen. Neben der Musik Händels möchte sie insbesondere die Musik Hasses bekannter machen. Ihr zur Seite steht dabei Valer Sabadus, der mit seiner glasklaren und androgynen Stimme in der Riege der weltbesten Countertenöre singt und über dessen Stimme die Süddeutsche Zeitung schrieb, sie sei „ungeheuer dramatisch, kristallklar, extrem kontrolliert, lyrisch fein“. Zu diesen faszinierendsten Sänger*innen der aktuellen Alte-Musik-Szene gesellt sich Axel Köhler (Händel-Preisträger 1994), der lange Jahre die Händel-Festspiele als Sänger und Regisseur mitprägte und sich nun als Moderator vorstellt. Four Handel prizewinners in one celebratory concert? This has never happened before in the 100-year history of the Halle Handel Festival. Wolfgang Katschner (Händel Prize winner 2004) as musical director makes music in a glamorous gala together with Vivicagenaux (Händel Prize winner 2017) and Valer Sabadus (Händel Prize winner 2020). After her debut in 1994 at the Florentine Opera/Milwaukee, the mezzo-soprano sang in the most important houses and at the most renowned festivals worldwide, such as the Vienna State Opera, the Opéra de Paris, the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, in Montpellier, Strasbourg and Paris as well as at the Salzburg Whitsun Festival.
