A concert program could hardly be more British. For the first time, the young dynamic conductor Duncan Ward is a guest with the Zurich Chamber Orchestra and presents a selected program with works by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Michael Tippett and Benjamin Britten. The focus is on two works by the composer Benjamin Britten: the Serenade for tenor, horn and strings and "Lachrymae - Reflections on a song of Dowland" for viola and string orchestra. Tenor Marc Padmore and the ZKO musicians Thomas Müller and Ryszard Groblewski radiate a special radiance. With the two supporting works for string orchestra by Ralph Vaughan Williams and Michael Tippett, the Zurich Chamber Orchestra also takes up two important works of British string literature from the last hundred years.
