Everyone knows the legendary figure of Herzl, but only a few know his personal story and the path he went through until he sat down to write his book "The State of the Jews". Ido Riklin has been working for three years on writing the libretto and directing the opera Theodore, and discovered that Herzl's story is not only fascinating and engrossing but also relevant to our very times.

A new original Israeli opera focusing on two periods in the life of the prophet of the State of Israel, just before he became a legend. The elderly Herzl’s horrifying night journey is intertwined with scenes of joy and hope of the young Theodor as each in his own turn needs to create a new reality for himself.
