Leading Brucknerian of our time, Daniel Barenboim recently completed his third recording of the complete cycle of symphonies. To the most monumental work of the set, he bestows a maximum of grandeur as well as a particularly touching intimacy.

Daniel Barenboim's Mozart / Bruckner cycle ends in style with the exhilarating vitality, not devoid of melancholy, of the former's Piano Concerto No. 23 , and the grandeur of the latter's Symphony No. 9 , a metaphysical meditation shot through with telluric shocks .

The final meeting of the Mozart / Bruckner cycle created by Daniel Barenboim brings together two peaks of music. Dated 1786, the Concerto in A major remains famous for the poignant cantilena of its Adagio, although the score is characterized by its winged vitality. Dedicated to the “Good God”, Bruckner’s last symphony, which remained unfinished, stands out as one of the most majestic and vibrant orchestral edifices in the repertoire. Two sections of monumental proportions, where the sublime rubs shoulders with the purest lyricism, frame a sardonic Scherzo, a truly infernal vision. This magnificent concert offers a new opportunity for Daniel Barenboim to show the extent and diversity of his talent.
