Considered one of the most important German maestros of today, Alexander Liebreich conducted the Munich Chamber Orchestra for ten years, developing a productive rapport that assured him a leading place in European music. In 2018, following his performance of Requiem by Tigran Mansurian, recorded by ECM, he was nominated for a Grammy and became artistic director of the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra. For Gulbenkian Música, he will perform the engaging Lyric Symphony by Zemlinsky, a composer whose rivalry with Mahler meant this work was also considered a response to the acclaimed The Song of the Earth cycle.

Considerado um dos mais importantes maestros alemães da atualidade, Alexander Liebreich dirigiu durante dez anos a Orquestra de Câmara de Munique, tendo garantido um lugar destacado na música europeia também graças a essa frutuosa ligação. Em 2018, na sequência da sua interpretação do Requiem de Tigran Mansurian, gravada pela ECM, foi nomeado para um Grammy e assumiu a direção artística da Orquestra Sinfónica da Rádio de Praga. À Gulbenkian Música, o maestro traz a envolvente Sinfonia Lírica de Zemlinsky, compositor cuja rivalidade com Mahler levou a que esta obra fosse também considerada como uma resposta ao célebre ciclo A Canção da Terra.
