"Viva il caro sassone!" This is how the enthusiastic audience celebrated the "dear Saxon" George Frideric Handel at the premiere of the opera "Agrippina" in Venice in 1709. The time in Italy had a great influence on the young Handel: during this time he wrote two operas as well as numerous oratorios and cantatas and got to know great composers like Corelli or the Scarlatti brothers. "For me, Handel's music from this period is very fascinating because it is so different from his late work, because it is loaded with Italian inspiration and because Handel learned there how to use the human voice, from which he benefited throughout his life." Václav Luks on the idea of ​​this program, in which the exceptional Australian opera singer Siobhan Stagg will perform the solo parts.
