Es müssen eindrucksvolle Konzerte gewesen sein, die Gustav Mahler Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts in Amsterdam am Pult des Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra dirigierte. Vielfach standen seine eigenen Werke am Programm, unter anderem 1909 seine siebte Symphonie, die das traditionsreiche Orchester nun mehr als ein Jahrhundert später unter der Leitung von Iván Fischer auch am Wolkenturm spielt. Als Novität kann man im Vergleich dazu den 2015 uraufgeführten Liederzyklus «Das heiße Herz» von Jörg Widmann bezeichnen, dem in Grafenegg der Bariton Michael Nagy seine Stimme leiht. Jörg Widmann, Jahrgang 1973, war 2014 der achte Composer in Residence des Grafenegg Festival.

Gustav Mahler conducted the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam at the beginning of the 20th century and they must have been impressive concerts. His own works were often on the programme, including his 7th Symphony in 1909, which the traditional orchestra is now also playing at the Wolkenturm more than a century later under the direction of Iván Fischer. In comparison, Jörg Widmann's song cycle "Dashot Herz", which premiered in 2015 and was lent his voice by baritone Michael Nagy in Grafenegg, can be described as a novelty. Jörg Widmann, born in 1973, was the eighth Composer in Residence at the Grafenegg Festival in 2014.
