With the ensemble polisono under the direction of Volker Hedtfeld and the Karl Forster Choir, experienced musicians will be on stage. Founded in 1998, the classical concert choir regularly performs major works of choral music in the Philharmonie and the Konzerthaus Berlin. The approximately seventy singers often work together with professional soloists and orchestras. In the summer of 2019, Volker Hedtfeld founded the ensemble polisono. This consists of selected soloists from Berlin, who together with the Karl Forster Choir create a unique concert sound.

The program includes Edvard Grieg's romantic, dance-like Holberg Suite and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Requiem in D minor from 1791 – his last composition. Although only about two-thirds of this is actually by Mozart, it is one of his most popular and highly esteemed works. Mozart died during the composition. Joseph Eybler and Franz Xaver Süssmayr, two of his students at the time, completed the Requiem on behalf of Mozart's widow Constanze. The unusual circumstances of the composition commission and the temporal connection with Mozart's early death have also stimulated the creation of lush myths.

Born out of the will to make the complex, pulsating, breathing, vibrating Berlin tangible, the ensemble polisono berlin plays in a dialogical, diverse, unconventional, courageous, lively, constantly renewing way. It makes the contemporary performance of historical music its task as well as the discovery and promotion of what is yet to be written.

Mit dem ensemble polisono unter der Leitung von Volker Hedtfeld und dem Karl-Forster-Chor stehen erfahrene Musiker:innen auf der Bühne. 1998 gegründet, führt der klassische Konzertchor regelmäßig große Werke der Chormusik in der Philharmonie und dem Konzerthaus Berlin auf. Dabei arbeiten die etwa siebzig Sängerinnen und Sänger immer wieder mit professionellen Solisten und Orchestern zusammen. Im Sommer 2019 rief Volker Hedtfeld das ensemble polisono ins Leben. Dieses setzt sich aus ausgewählten Solisten Berlins zusammen, welche gemeinsam mit dem Karl-Forster-Chor einen einzigartigen Konzertklang entstehen lassen.

Auf dem Programm stehen zum einen die romantisch-tänzerische Holberg-Suite von Edvard Grieg und zum anderen Wolfgang Amadeus Mozarts Requiem in d-Moll aus dem Jahr 1791 – seine letzte Komposition. Obwohl dieses nur zu etwa zwei Dritteln tatsächlich von Mozart stammt, ist es eines seiner beliebtesten und am höchsten geschätzten Werke. Mozart starb während der Komposition. Joseph Eybler und Franz Xaver Süßmayr, zwei seiner damaligen Schüler, vervollständigten das Requiem im Auftrag von Mozarts Witwe Constanze. Die ungewöhnlichen Umstände des Kompositionsauftrags und der zeitliche Zusammenhang mit Mozarts frühem Tod haben zudem eine üppige Mythenbildung angeregt.

Geboren aus dem Willen, das vielschichtige, pulsierende, atmende, vibrierende Berlin erlebbar zu machen, spielt das ensemble polisono berlin dialogisch, vielfältig, unkonventionell, mutig, lebendig, sich ständig erneuernd. Dabei macht es sich die zeitgemäße Aufführung historischer Musik ebenso zur Aufgabe wie die Entdeckung und Förderung dessen, was noch geschrieben werden soll.
