Baroque Module and Opening of International Choir Competition “Prof. Georgi Dimitrov”

The monumental Mass in B minor by J.S. Bach is regarded by many as “the greatest musical masterpiece of all time”. One of the supreme achievements in the composer’s religious musical path, it represents faith as inspiration. In order to present this spectacular work in its best, there will be a special Festival Baroque Orchestra formed by musicians from all over Europe, together with the winner in category Mixed Choirs from the International Competition “Prof. Gueorgi Dimitrov” – The Choir of the Maritime University of Szczecin (Poland). The cast of soloists is impressive – the Canadian soprano, Heather Newhous, with specializations in London and Lyon, First Prize winner at the Concours international de chant baroque in Froville; the Austrian mezzosoprano Hermine Haselböck, Professor of Voice at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna and in Graz, she had worked with conductors such as Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Kirill Petrenko and Christian Thielemann; the tenor Franz Gürtelschmied, who was born and studied in Vienna and recently had debuted at several prestigious stages in Europe and US, and the baritone Klemens Sander, a winner of the Richard Tauber Prize (Wigmore Hall London,) as well as of the International Schumann Competition Zwickau. The concert will be conducted by Martin Sieghart, who started his career as an assistant to G. Rozhdestvensky, then as a conductor of the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, Chief Conductor of the Bruckner Orchestra Linz, and the Vienna Chamber Orchestra among others. A magnificent traditional concert for your “not to miss” list since Bach’s Mаss in h moll is rarely performed.

Грандиозната Меса в h moll често е определяна като най-великата музикална творба на всички времена. Връх в религиозния път в музиката за Бах, тя е еманация на вярата като движеща сила и вдъхновение. За нейното представяне в рамките на “Варненско лято” се формира специален Фестивален бароков оркестър от музиканти от различни държави, редом с победителя в категория “Смесени хорове” от Международния хоров конкурс “Проф. Георги Димитров” 2023 – Хорът на Морския технологичен университет в Шчечин – Полша. Солистите са великолепни: канадското сопрано Хедър Нюхаус, специализирала в Лондон и Лион с първа награда от конкурса за изпълнение на барокова музика във Фровил (Франция); Хермине Хазелбьок, професор по пеене във Виена и Грац, чест гост на най-големите световни сцени с диригенти като Николаус Харнонкур и Кристиан Тилеман; един истински виенчанин, тенорът Франц Гюртелшмид, който през последните години прави своя дебют на редица престижни сцени в Европа и САЩ; и още един виенски възпитаник, Клеменс Сандрес, носител на наградата Ричард Таубер (Уигмор хол) в Лондон и на първа награда от конкурса Шуман в Цвикау, със стабилна кариера и изяви под палката на Кент Нагано и Кирил Петренко. A на пулта ще е именития австрийски диригент Мартин Зигхарт, чиято диригентска кариера започва като асистент на Генадий Рождественски, след това е диригент на Щутгартския камерен оркестър, главен диригент на Оркестъра “Брукнер” в Линц, а последните години – на Виенския камерен оркестър. Рядко изпълнявана в България, Месата в h moll с този великолепен състав е сред големите събития в програмата на “Варненско лятo”!
