Little Pierre hates obeying his grandfather, who is a bit grumpy. The day when, defying his ban, he opens the gate and leaves the garden, a great adventure begins for him. He converses with all kinds of animals: birds, ducks, cats... But when he finds himself face to face with the wolf, he tells himself that his grandfather was perhaps right and that the world outdoors is a very dangerous place. Unless Pierre and his new friends prove to be smarter than the wolf?

With its melodies as accessible as they are irresistible, Peter and the Wolf by Sergueï Prokofiev remains to this day one of the most popular compositions for children. As each character is represented by a different instrument, it's also a perfect way to get to know an orchestra! By interpreting this classic, our musical director Alain Altinoglu and the Orchester symphonique de la Monnaie perpetuate the tradition of our annual family concert. Assisted by Johan Leysen in the role of the narrator, will they succeed, on February 4, where grumpy grandfathers fail: to make themselves listen to children?

Le petit Pierre déteste obéir à son grand-père, qui est un peu grincheux. Le jour où, bravant son interdiction, il ouvre la barrière et sort du jardin, débute pour lui une grande aventure. Il converse avec toutes sortes d’animaux : l’oiseau, le canard, le chat... Mais quand il se retrouve nez à nez avec le loup, il se dit que son grand-père avait peut-être raison et que le monde extérieur est un endroit bien dangereux. À moins que Pierre et ses nouveaux amis ne se montrent plus malins que le loup ?

Avec ses mélodies aussi accessibles qu’irrésistibles, Pierre et le Loup de Sergueï Prokofiev reste à ce jour une des compositions pour enfants les plus appréciées. Comme chaque personnage est représenté par un instrument différent, c’est aussi un moyen idéal de faire connaissance avec un orchestre ! En interprétant ce classique, notre directeur musical Alain Altinoglu et l’Orchestre symphonique de la Monnaie perpétuent la tradition de notre concert familial annuel. Assistés de Johan Leysen dans le rôle du narrateur, réussiront-ils, le 4 février, là où échouent les grands-pères grincheux : à se faire écouter des enfants ?
