Dopo la vittoria al Concorso Borciani nel 2005, il Pavel Haas Quartet si è affermato come uno dei più interessanti gruppi da camera dei nostri giorni, particolarmente apprezzato per le esecuzioni coinvolgenti e l’intensità del suono. Fondato nel 2002 a Praga, il Pavel Haas Quartet si esibisce regolarmente nelle più prestigiose sale del mondo e ha già vinto cinque Gramophone Award per le proprie incisioni discografiche. Il Pavel Haas Quartet incide in esclusiva per l’etichetta Supraphon. Il loro ultimo disco, interamente dedicato a Dvořák (Quintetto per archi n. 3 con Pavel Nikl, precedente violista del Quartetto, e Quintetto con pianoforte n. 2 con Boris Giltburg) ha ottenuto recensioni entusiastiche da parte della critica specializzata, che lo ha definito un album "da non perdere" (BBC Music Magazine) ed è stato premiato con il Gramophone Award 2017 come migliore incisione di musica da camera, oltre a essere scelto come “Album del Mese” da Diapason d’Or. Nel 2007 la European Concert Hall Organisation (ECHO) ha inserito il Pavel Haas Quartet tra le Rising Stars, affidando loro una serie di concerti nelle più importanti sale da concerto del mondo. Fra il 2007 e il 2009 l’ensemble ha preso parte al progetto BBC New Generation Artists e nel 2010 gli è stato attribuita la Special Ensemble Scholarship della Fondazione Borletti-Buitoni.
Il Quartetto, che ha studiato con Milan Škampa (leggendario violista del Quartetto Smetana), trae il proprio nome dal compositore ceco Pavel Haas, prigioniero nel campo di lavoro di Theresienstadt e morto ad Auschwitz nel 1944, che ha lasciato in eredità tre magnifici Quartetti.

Founded in 2002 in Prague, the Pavel Haas Quartet performs regularly in the most prestigious halls of the world and has already won five Gramophone Awards for their recordings. The Pavel Haas Quartet records exclusively for the Supraphon label. Their latest album, entirely dedicated to Dvořák (String Quintet No. 3 with Pavel Nikl, former violist of the Quartet, and Piano Quintet No. 2 with Boris Giltburg) received rave reviews from critics, who called it a "must see" album (BBC Music Magazine) and was awarded the 2017 Gramophone Award for Best Chamber Music Recording, as well as being chosen as “Album of the Month” by Diapason d'Or. The Quartet, which studied with Milan Škampa (legendary violist of the Smetana Quartet), takes its name from the Czech composer Pavel Haas, a prisoner in the Theresienstadt labor camp and who died in Auschwitz in 1944, who bequeathed three magnificent Quartets.
