A sumptuous Viennese album, this concert where one of Mahler's most subtle symphonies preludes the lyrical enchantment of the Rosenkavalier .

Although it does not have a precise narrative program, it is to the mysteries of childhood that Mahler's Symphony No. 4 is dedicated , created in 1901: pastoral joy of insouciance first, reminiscences of village festivals, then carnival games, with the almost debonair mask of death, finally spiritual nostalgia, with the “heavenly life” promised by the song of the last movement, one of those poignant Adagios of which Mahler has the secret. The torments and happiness of love, the erotic impulse and the nostalgia of desire, elegy transcended in lyrical delight: thus confide the mixed voices of Sophie, Octavian and the Maréchale in the sublime concluding Trio of the  Chevalier à the Rose. This pinnacle of operatic art by Richard Strauss touches, today as yesterday, the most intimate chords of each destiny.
