Die selbstbewusste Tochter des kurz vor der Pleite stehenden amerikanischen Filmproduzenten Makintosh reist kurzerhand über den großen Ozean und findet in einem südfranzösischen Grandhotel nicht nur das große erzählenswerte Märchen, sondern auch eine Besetzung, die Hollywood sich nicht schöner hätte ausdenken können: eine exzentrische Infantin, ihren gockelnden Verlobten und einen schmachtenden Hotelerben, der undercover als Zimmerkellner durch das Geschehen stolpert. „Klappe – die Erste“ heißt es also für den erhofften Klassenschlager, getragen von Paul Abrahams lustvoller wie vielseitiger Musik – von Walzer bis Foxtrott und Schlagern bis Stepptanz. Life writes the best stories, Marylou is convinced of that. The self-confident daughter of the American film producer Makintosh, who is on the verge of bankruptcy, travels across the great ocean and finds not only the great fairy tale worth telling in a grand hotel in southern France, but also a cast that Hollywood could not have dreamed up more beautifully: an eccentric infanta, hers fiancé and a languishing heir to the hotel, who stumbles through the events undercover as a room waiter. "Klappe - die Erste" is the motto for the hoped-for class hit, carried by Paul Abraham's joyful and varied music - from waltz to foxtrot and hits to tap dance. Happy ending included!
