Comical opera in two acts by Gaetano Donizetti Libretto by Felice Romani In Italian with German & English surtitles Nemorino loves Adina. But he doesn't dare to reveal his feelings, especially since his beloved is little interested in him. Because Adina only has eyes for the attractive soldier Belcore, Nemorino resorted to extraordinary means and asked the healing quack Dulcamara to turn the eponymous "love potion" on, which is nothing more than red wine and yet turns everything upside down. Donizetti set the cheerful and at the same time touching-melancholy love adventure to music with rousing music and made himself unforgettable with Nemorino's gently melting romance “Una furtiva lagrima”. This classic of Italian opera, with which we continue the Karlsruhe Belcanto line after DIE REGIMENTSTOCHTER and I CAPULETI EI MONTECCHI, holds parade roles for Uliana Alexyuk, Ks. Ina Schlingensiepen and Agnieszka Tomaszewska as well as Jesus Garcia and Eleazar Rodriguez, among others. It is staged by the Florentine Jacopo Spirei, who with his team and subtle humor has already brought Verdi's Falstaff to the Karlsruhe stage. So far he has worked in Salzburg, Copenhagen, Bologna and Vienna, among others. Nikolaus Webern, who won the “ring award off” in Graz in 2011, will once again design the set. The musical direction is in the hands of our Italian conductor Daniele Squeo, who delighted the audience and the press with his stylish conducting of I CAPULETI EI MONTECCHI.
