Едва ли не самая популярная опера знаменитого итальянца Гаэтано Доницетти была впервые поставлена в 1832 году в Милане (и, кстати, посвящена всем женщинам этого города). «Любовный напиток» – кладезь восхитительных мелодий. А романс Неморино, истинный шедевр Доницетти, входит в золотой фонд оперной классики.

Неморино, отвергаемый строптивой красавицей, покупает на последние деньги эликсир любви, который оказывается… обыкновенным вином. Комизм положений и лирические излияния, жизненность ситуаций и непринуждённость всего происходящего позволили постановщикам перенести время действия оперы на столетие вперед, в эпоху «неореализма», и показать перипетии любви Неморино и Адины в ХХ веке, а также в шутку приписать к именам героев фамилии известных деятелей итальянского искусства.
