Considered "David Bowie's parting gift to the world", Lazarus is the extraordinary rock opera that the great British artist simply called "musical theatre", written shortly before his death together with the award-winning Irish playwright Enda Walsh. Eight years after its debut in New York, this particular musical theater object is being staged for the first time in Italy under the direction of Valter Malosti, also director of ERT / Teatro Nazionale, who oversaw the Italian version in confrontation with Walsh himself .
The play takes up the story of the interstellar migrant Thomas Jerome Newton from The Man Who Fell to Earth(The Man Who Fell to Earth, 1963) by Walter Tevis. Character who periodically resurfaces in the artistic history of the White Duke, like a haunting ghost. In the role of the protagonist, one of the leading names in Italian music, Manuel Agnelli, singer-songwriter and historic frontman of the Afterhours, supported by the singer-songwriter winner of the XIV edition of X-Factor Italia Casadilego and by the choreographer and dancer Michela Lucenti.

A very rich cast of eleven performers, which also sees the very talented on stage: Dario Battaglia, Attilio Caffarena, Maurizio Camilli, Noemi Grasso, Maria Lombardo, Giulia Mazzarino, Camilla Nigro, Isacco Venturini; and seven musicians, among the best on the Italian music scene: Laura Agnusdei, Jacopo Battaglia, Ramon Moro, Amedeo Perri, Giacomo “ROST” Rossetti, Stefano Pilia, Paolo Spaccamonti.

Guided by sound design and music production by GUP Alcaro, the band presents original arrangements of David Bowie's greatest hits (from Heroes to Life on Mars? , up to Changes ) and the four songs that the artist wrote especially for the show , including the masterpiece that gives the title to the work.

Considerato «il regalo d’addio di David Bowie al mondo», Lazarus è la straordinaria opera rock che il grande artista britannico chiamava semplicemente “teatro musicale”, scritta poco prima della sua scomparsa insieme al pluripremiato drammaturgo irlandese Enda Walsh. A otto anni dal debutto a New York, questo particolare oggetto di teatro musicale va in scena per la prima volta in Italia con la regia di Valter Malosti, anche direttore di ERT / Teatro Nazionale, che ha curato la versione italiana confrontandosi con lo stesso Walsh.
La pièce riprende le vicende del migrante interstellare Thomas Jerome Newton de L’uomo che cadde sulla terra (The Man Who Fell to Earth, 1963) di Walter Tevis. Personaggio che riaffiora periodicamente nella storia artistica del Duca Bianco, come un ossessionante fantasma. Nel ruolo del protagonista, uno dei nomi di punta della musica italiana, Manuel Agnelli, cantautore e storico frontman degli Afterhours, affiancato dalla cantautrice vincitrice della XIV edizione di X-Factor Italia Casadilego e dalla coreografa e danzatrice Michela Lucenti.

Un ricchissimo cast di undici interpreti, che vede sul palco anche i talentuosissimi: Dario Battaglia, Attilio Caffarena, Maurizio Camilli, Noemi Grasso, Maria Lombardo, Giulia Mazzarino, Camilla Nigro, Isacco Venturini; e sette musicisti, tra i migliori della scena musicale italiana: Laura Agnusdei, Jacopo Battaglia, Ramon Moro, Amedeo Perri, Giacomo “ROST” Rossetti, Stefano Pilia, Paolo Spaccamonti.

Guidata dal progetto sonoro e dalla produzione musicale di GUP Alcaro, la band presenta arrangiamenti originali dei più grandi successi di David Bowie (da Heroes a Life on Mars?, fino a Changes) e dei quattro brani che l’artista scrisse appositamente per lo spettacolo, tra cui il capolavoro che dà il titolo all’opera.
