Le Château de Barbe-Bleue / La Voix humaine, mise en scène par Krzysztof Warlikowski, à découvrir du 17 mars au 11 avril 2018 au Palais Garnier

Zdolność do przywoływania i tworzenia w myślach rozmaitych obrazów i historii, których źródłem są zmysły – definicja ta odnosi się do wyobraźni, będącej jednym z najbardziej kreatywnych obszarów ludzkiego życia. Podczas koncertu z udziałem wybitnej sopranistki Barbary Hannigan oraz LUDWIG Orchestra artyści wykonają wielkie dwudziestowieczne dzieła czerpiące z przywołanej formuły – Metamorfozy Richarda Straussa oraz La voix humaine Francisa Poulenca.

Metamorfozy Richarda Straussa to dzieło szczególne, zarówno dla twórczości samego kompozytora, jak i dla historii muzyki ogółem. Proces tworzenia dzieła artysta rozpoczął w ostatnich miesiącach II wojny światowej, po etapie trudnych i kontrowersyjnych po dziś dzień kontaktów z nazistami. Nieco wcześniej zmienił jednak swoją postawę w stosunku do III Rzeszy, przyjmując przygnębiającą rzeczywistość poprzez milczącą zgodę. Powstała w 1945 roku kompozycja odczytywana jest więc jako swoiste pożegnanie twórcy, pełne żalu zwrócenie się w stronę bezpowrotnie mijającej epoki. Niezwykle symboliczne w tym kontekście było umieszczenie w utworze cytatu z marsza żałobnego pochodzącego z Eroiki Ludwiga van Beethovena.

 Powstałe piętnaście lat później dzieło Francisa Poulenca La voix humaine to jednoaktowa, trwająca niespełna czterdzieści minut tragedie lyrique. Kompozytor stworzył ją do tekstu poety Jeana Cocteau, poruszającego tematykę związaną z dramatem odrzucenia oraz samotności. Główną osią dzieła jest monolog niedawno porzuconej kobiety, która w rozmowie telefonicznej z byłym kochankiem odsłania cały wachlarz gorzkich emocji. Studium ludzkiej rozpaczy ubogacone jest oryginalnym językiem muzycznym, podkreślającym przeżycia dotkniętej bólem postaci. Poulenc skomponował Głos ludzki dla francuskiej sopranistki Denise Duval, podczas koncertu w rolę bohaterki wcieli się Barbara Hannigan.

The ability to evoke and create various images and stories in the mind, which are the source of the senses - this definition refers to the imagination, which is one of the most creative areas of human life. During the concert with the participation of the outstanding soprano Barbara Hannigan and the LUDWIG Orchestra, the artists will perform great 20th-century works drawing on the aforementioned formula - Metamorphoses by Richard Strauss and La voix humaine by Francis Poulenc.

Richard Strauss's Metamorphoses is a special work, both for the composer's own work and for the history of music in general. The artist began the process of creating the work in the last months of World War II, after the stage of difficult and still controversial contacts with the Nazis. A little earlier, however, he changed his attitude towards the Third Reich, accepting the depressing reality through tacit consent. The composition, created in 1945, is therefore read as a kind of farewell to the artist, a regretful turning towards the irrevocably passing era. In this context, it was extremely symbolic to include a quote from Ludwig van Beethoven 's funeral march from Eroica .

 Francis Poulenc's La voix humaine , written fifteen years later, is a one-act lyrique tragedy lasting less than forty minutes. The composer created it to a text by the poet Jean Cocteau, dealing with themes related to the drama of rejection and loneliness. The main axis of the work is a monologue of a recently abandoned woman who reveals a whole range of bitter emotions in a telephone conversation with her former lover. The study of human despair is enriched with an original musical language, emphasizing the experiences of the pain-stricken character. Poulenc composed The Human Voice for the French soprano Denise Duval, during the concert the role of the heroine will be played by Barbara Hannigan.
