In this programme the quartet offers three early (1933), lightweight pieces by Britten and a mature (1783) Mozart quartet, while Denk answers with a prodigious set of pieces by Ligeti that went straight into the repertoire, and of which he has made a notable recording; they come together for one of the most popular works for the piano quintet medium.
