New Year at the Eiffel Workshop
For the 9th time now, the Opera's New Year is dominated by the performance of the famous 9th Symphony. Its presentation in Hungary that year was conducted by Ferenc Erkel, who was the institution's first chief music director. Each year, a different excellent conductor conducts this work, and among the Opera ensembles, there is no one who knows this work better in this country, and who can therefore more powerfully and confidently articulate the universal value and message contained in it, which is why this work
it really is the perfect time to start a new year with hope. But this performance is also special in that it includes for the first time the content of the 28-page Mahler notes, which confirm the Beethoven score at several points in the symphony. Until now, it has never been performed in Hungary, especially not with the addition of the orchestra and choir, which is the Opera Total series in the Locomotive Hall of the Eiffel Workshop, because of the even more grandiose experience, very fitting for Mahler. Mahler, to whom this concert is one of the important points of connection this season, and who was also the legendary music director of the Opera.

Újév az Eiffel Műhelyházban
Az Opera újévét immár 9. alkalommal dominálja a nevezetes 9. szimfónia előadása. Magyarországi bemutatóját anno az az Erkel Ferenc dirigálta, aki az intézmény első főzeneigazgatója volt. Minden évben más remek karmester vezényli e művet, és az Opera együtteseinél mára nincs, ki jobban tudná ezt az alkotást idehaza, s aki ezáltal erőteljesebben és magabiztosabban tudná megfogalmazni a belefoglalt egyetemes értéket és üzenetet, amiért is e mű
valóban tökéletes alkalom egy új év reményteli felütésére. Ám ez az előadás még abban is különlegességet hordoz, hogy először kerül bele annak a 28 oldalas mahleri jegyzetnek a tartalma, amely a szimfónia több pontján megerősíti a Beethoven-partitúrát. Eddig Magyarországon még soha nem hangzott el, főleg nem a zenekari és énekkari létszám feldúsításával, amit az Opera Total című sorozat jelent az Eiffel Műhelyház Mozdonycsarnokában, a még grandiózusabb élmény miatt, Mahlerhez igen illőn. Mahlerhez, akihez e hangverseny az egyik fontos kötődési pontot jelenti ebben az évadban, s aki szintén legendás zeneigazgatója volt az Operának.
