The Barber of Seville with his Italian melody, temperament, youthful verve and irresistible humor is one of the greatest masterpieces of comic opera. He owes his success to both the great libretto and the music of Rossini. Each side of the score proves compositional mastery and delights with musical wit. The Wrocław production, directed by Igor Przegrodzki and under the musical direction of Tadeusz Zathey, is characterized by rapid and dynamic direction, dramatic situations are treated with a slight distance, and the set design refers to the style of the epoch.
