Basada en la obra del genial Beaumarchais, su argumento dinámico y disparatado encierra algo mucho más interesante que lo que se muestra en primer plano. La trama contrapone a dos generaciones en sus deseos, ambiciones y en sus maneras de ver el mundo. Rossini muestra a sus personajes tal cual son poniendo en práctica como nadie el recurso más poderoso para explicar la realidad: la ironía. Una ironía que no está solo en el texto sino también en la música, que encierra una gran comicidad.

Inspired by the work of the genius Beaumarchais, there is something about this dynamic and far-fetched story that is much more interesting than what one might imagine at first sight. The plot compares two generations with their different desires, ambitions, and ways of perceiving the world. Rossini portrays his characters exactly as they are, putting into practice a powerful resource like no other to explain reality: irony. An irony that is not only in the text but also in the music, and that encases a wonderful sense of comedy.
