G. Rossini's operatic masterpiece The Barber of Seville went around all the stages of the world, even children recognize Figaro's aria, and the phrases "Figaro here, Figaro there" and "Like a bomb, exploding, slander shakes everything" have become popular expressions. The witty Rossini, being not only an excellent composer, but also a culinary specialist, created a unique recipe for the dizzying unceasing popularity of this opera. Here it is: seven bright characters, a heady love affair seasoned with sharp-tongued dialogues, fill the whole mix with magnificent melodies and sprinkle with virtuoso ensembles. This Rossinian masterpiece was prepared by masters specially invited from England - director Elijah Moshinsky and artist Ann Tilby.
