Die Oper „Idomeneo“ aus dem Jahr 1781 ist ein frühes, lange Zeit kaum beachtetes Meisterwerk Mozarts. Im Alter von 25 Jahren ist er bereits auf der absoluten Höhe seiner Kunst und schafft ein unverwechselbares, die Grundfragen alles Menschlichen berührendes Werk, das schon zu dieser Zeit thematisch die „Zauberflöte“ ankündigt. Seine musikalische Ausdruckskraft bei der Gestaltung des Konfliktes zwischen erbarmungsloser alter und humanistischer neuer Welt, die sich im Gegensatz von Vater Idomeneo und Sohn Idamante gestaltet, ist ohnegleichen und entfaltet eine ganze Bandbreite der Empfindungen und Leidenschaften, wie nur Mozart sie schaffen konnte. Erstmals in Köln inszeniert der europaweit gefragte Regisseur Floris Visser. Rubén Dubrovsky kehrt nach „Giulio Cesare in Egitto“ (2022.23) an die Oper Köln zurück.

The opera "Idomeneo" from 1781 is an early masterpiece by Mozart that went largely unnoticed for a long time. At the age of 25, he was already at the absolute peak of his art and created an unmistakable work that touched on the fundamental questions of all human beings, which already at this time heralded the theme of the "Magic Flute". His musical expressiveness in shaping the conflict between the pitiless old world and the humanistic new world, which is shaped in contrast to father Idomeneo and son Idamante, is unparalleled and unfolds a whole range of feelings and passions that only Mozart could create. Director Floris Visser, who is in demand throughout Europe, is producing for the first time in Cologne. Rubén Dubrovsky returns to the Cologne Opera after Giulio Cesare in Egitto (2022.23).
