With this program we rescue a work that had to be suspended when the pandemic began in 2020, and whose recovery acquires great symbolic value for Euskadiko Orkestra. It is Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 2, nicknamed " Resurrection ".”, which took the bohemian author six years of work and which, in its hour and a half duration, traverses an extraordinary soundscape shaped by reflections on life and death. In it Mahler also introduced for the first time the human voice and otherworldly themes, which will be central to much of his later symphonic output. Robert Treviño, who has achieved great success on international stages conducting Mahler, will feature two vocal soloists specialized in his music, the soprano Sarah Fox and the mezzo-soprano Justina Gringyte, and a choir that has defended this symphony all over the world and has made of her his letter of introduction: the Orfeón Donostiarra.
