Emilie Mayer, a prolific composer in her own right, recalls something of Mozart’s style. English composer Gerald Finzi writes dramatically for both the DSO strings and Principal Clarinet Ralph Skiano, while Elgar’s Serenade puts the former entirely in focus. One of Mozart’s last symphonies takes us all on a ridiculously fun ride.
